The street gist took another dimension today when the invitation arrived.
We all knew when the going was good
and they were best of lovers. Elekahia estate was the venue and their love
became examples to younger ones. Marriage was inevitable as they grew older;
they became closer and more definite like a future made in heaven. Gloria and Kennedy
were the first amongst their peers to showcase their love as teens. It started as
friends and their church activities brought them closer. From teenage days they
were seen escorting themselves and when university days came they were just
there for themselves. The last two years of Kennedy in university of Port Harcourt
saw Gloria admitted into the same institution. She co-habitat with him in the
Alakahia apartment. Four guys lived there then and Gloria moved in with Kennedy.
She was there for two years until he graduated and went for national service. That
was the genesis of their problems. Distance became an issue and they glorified
it into a problem. We even heard she was pregnant for him once and he denied
the pregnancy. She had to terminate the pregnancy. She went to Jos to see her
boyfriend but was met with another woman taking care of her possession. She was
heartbroken and ashamed to come back to the estate. When she graduated she left
the neighbourhood also and that was the last we heard from her.

funny thing is that her wedding invitation is out and she is getting married to
Ambrose. Who is Ambrose we all asked? One of the four guys that lived together with
Kennedy while they were in school. Seems like an abomination. How come you’ll
get involved in a relationship with your ex’s friend? How come you’ll want to
marry your friend’s ex? Many blamed the lady and many blamed the guy. Some said
since they broke up mutually they don’t owe themselves anything again.
